2019-20 Budget
I am pleased to share that the College’s 2019-20 operating budget was presented and approved at Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting. Despite some revenue challenges, the College was able to focus on our strategic priorities by implementing a number of programs and practices in areas such as revenue generation and utilities cost-savings measures.
We will continue to directly invest in our employees. This budget provides a 2% pay raise for all full-time, eligible positions effective July 1, as well as a new minimum hourly rate of $12 to ensure all full-time, eligible employees are provided a decent standard of living. Also, though insurance and retirement costs are still rising, the College is endeavoring to minimize the impact of those to our employees.
We will continue to improve our learning spaces and technology for our students. Through a partnership with the TCC Foundation, we have been able to renovate or plan for the renovation of nearly 50 classroom and lab spaces to ensure we are providing the best learning environment for our students. Our team has also been hard at work preparing for full implementation of Workday Student next year which will transform the student experience from education to occupation.
We will continue to focus on access for our community. We will maintain our commitment to provide services to the residents of Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties through our service centers and sector-focused institutes. We will also once again hold the line on no tuition increase for the upcoming academic year.
The 2019-20 budget is balanced and preserves a sufficient fund balance thanks to the efforts of Vice President Barbara Wills and her team who have been working hard to ensure our budget is aligned with our values.
You can review a full presentation of our budget from the Board’s May meeting, including a revenue and expenditures breakdown, here.
By directly investing in our employees, renovating learning spaces, acquiring new technologies, funding support services and spending a higher percentage on instruction than most other colleges in Florida, we continue to demonstrate our focus on student success. TCC has been and will continue to be committed to the academic excellence and student success that have been this College’s hallmarks for more than a half century.
Thank you for all you do to make TCC one of the top institutions in the nation!
