Parkland High School Shooting
On behalf of the entire Tallahassee Community College family, I want to offer our deepest sympathies to those affected by yesterday’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
To the students here on our campus who are from that area and may be alumni of the high school, please check your email for a message from our Dean of Students this morning about resources available to you as well as to all our students. The Counseling Center will be open for student walk-ins today, and the Victim Advocate Program is available, should you need it. Our doors are open to you.
In the wake of such a tragedy, we must show our compassion and understanding. No one should have to face the weight of this alone. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything more the College can do for you.

If you want to truely empower your students, you would be well served to set up a class/course in the physics of consciousness : how through consciousness we are connected to the universe and humanity at a basic level of reality proven by quantum physics and through that connection can affect the world around us. The square root of one percent of a given population meditating on peace and compassion has been shown to Lower crime in an area. A 1978 carefully controlled study showed 7,000 people focusing on peace, etc. lowered crime rates around the world and even lowered the number of terrorist events. I am a minister and counselor and urge you to consider helping your students become leaders in a new generation of young people who realize we can change our society and world without waiting for political change, although not ignoring that avenue.
