New Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs Named
Dear Colleagues,
With the transition of Madeline Pumariega into her new role as president of Miami Dade College at the end of this month we must identify a new leader to help us continue the momentum we have built in recent years.
It is my great pleasure to announce that Dr. Calandra Stringer has agreed to serve the College in the role of Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. She will assume this new position effective January 1.
Calandra has a long and celebrated history at TCC. She first joined the College in 2003 and has served as a mathematics instructor, director of the TCC STEM Center, Associate Dean of Curriculum, and, most recently, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs. In addition to these roles, she was appointed interim dean for both the Communications and Humanities and Business, Industry and Technology academic divisions, was invited to participate in the Presidential Leadership Seminar and the Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar, and has won the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award, among many other accomplishments.
Calandra will fill a critical role on our senior leadership team in advocating on behalf of our faculty, particularly during this unprecedented time. In my conversations with her, I am confident we share a vision for how we want TCC to emerge from this pandemic stronger and better. I believe that her sense of collaboration, her passion for student success, and her nearly two decades of service at TCC will enable us to maintain the momentum that has contributed to the College being named by the Aspen Institute as one of the top 10 Colleges in the nation.
Please join me in congratulating Calandra on her new role at the College.
