A Stronger Pathway to Opportunity: Advancing Our Partnership with Florida A&M University

For our students, a clear path forward makes all the difference. That is why Tallahassee State College and Florida A&M University have renewed and strengthened our Articulation Agreement — formalizing an even stronger transfer pathway designed to expand access, reduce time to degree, and support student success at every step.

For decades, Tallahassee State College has proudly been the No. 1 transfer institution to FAMU. That distinction is not accidental. It is the result of intentional collaboration, transfer-focused advising, and a deep belief that when we align our institutions, our students win.

This new agreement reinforces that commitment.

The Power of IGNITE

At the heart of our transfer success is the IGNITE transfer program. IGNITE ensures that students who complete their Associate of Arts degree at TSC are guaranteed general admission to FAMU. More than a promise of admission, IGNITE is a structured pathway that removes barriers and reduces uncertainty for students who aspire to continue their education at FAMU.

Under this strengthened agreement, we are expanding:

  • True 2+2 pathway models
  • Concurrent enrollment opportunities
  • Dedicated university advising support
  • Reverse transfer options to ensure students earn their associate degree
  • Data-sharing practices that improve retention and completion outcomes

IGNITE students will continue to have access to campus resources, student life experiences, and a stronger sense of belonging even before they transfer. That early connection matters.

The agreement also formalizes expanded scholarship opportunities for IGNITE students. Eligible graduates can receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 based on academic performance and program participation. This is more than financial aid. It is an investment in momentum.

When students see a clear pathway, supported advising, and financial incentives tied to achievement, they persist. They graduate. They move forward.

A Shared Commitment to Florida’s Future

This agreement is aligned with a broader vision shared by both institutions: increasing access to higher education, reducing time to degree, strengthening workforce preparation, and contributing to Florida’s economic progress.

Together, TSC and FAMU are:

  • Expanding measurable access to higher education
  • Improving transfer efficiency
  • Aligning academic pathways
  • Sharing data to strengthen student outcomes
  • Creating intentional, student-centered systems

This partnership reflects what is possible when institutions collaborate instead of compete.

Why This Matters

In today’s higher education environment, clarity and affordability are critical. Students want a structured, supported, and financially responsible path. The IGNITE TSC-to-FAMU pathway delivers exactly that.

We are proud to be FAMU’s top transfer partner. We are proud of the success our students achieve after they arrive. And we are proud to stand alongside President Marva Johnson and the FAMU Board of Trustees in reaffirming our commitment to shared progress.

When Tallahassee State College and Florida A&M University work together, we strengthen not just two institutions — we strengthen our community.

The future of higher education in Tallahassee is collaborative, innovative, and student-focused.

And we are just getting started.
