Dear Colleagues,

With the resignation of Feleccia Moore-Davis as provost of TCC, it is my responsibility to identify a new leader to take us to the next level.

It is my great pleasure to announce that Madeline Pumariega, the former chancellor of the Florida College System (FCS), has agreed to serve the College in the newly created role of executive vice president and provost. She will assume her position with the College on May 13. This will allow a period of overlap with Feleccia that will facilitate a smooth transition of leadership.

I have personally known and worked with Madeline for several years. Madeline was the first woman and first Hispanic educator to lead the FCS, which includes 28 colleges, nearly 800,000 students and is recognized as one of the top systems in the nation. Among her roles prior to that, she was with Miami Dade College for nearly two decades, serving in a number of leadership roles, including president of the Wolfson Campus. She truly believes in the importance of faculty engagement, student success and workforce initiatives, and that a quality education is the single most important factor to lifelong success. Her passion has led her to become a nationally recognized leader in higher education.

Madeline’s interest in TCC developed when she recently led our trustees and executive team in strategic planning exercises that focused on high-impact practices, helping to lay the groundwork for the College’s strategic direction for the next five years.

As executive vice president, she will be responsible for aligning and advancing the high impact practices within the College’s three core divisions of academic affairs, student affairs and workforce development.

I believe that Madeline’s extensive background in higher education, her vision and her record of innovation and collaboration make her an excellent choice for this new position.
