Class Canceled Friday, April 18

Out of respect for today’s events at Florida State University and in support of our community, classes have been canceled for Friday, April 18, but the College will remain open. Aspire Day on Friday and FSU Next Orientation on Monday have both been canceled.

We are remaining open to ensure support services are available, and our campus is here as a space for connection, care, and community.

Actively Monitoring Incident at FSU Student Union

Dear TSC Students, Faculty, and Staff,

We are actively monitoring the incident involving an armed intruder at the Florida State University Student Union.

There is no known threat to Tallahassee State College at this time. However, we understand that many of our students live near FSU and with FSU students. If you are in the affected area, please follow police instructions, avoid the area, or shelter in place as appropriate.

We recognize this type of incident can be distressing. TSC students have access to a number of mental health resources:

Campus Closure Update

Based on updated guidance about the anticipated impact of Hurricane Idalia to our region, TCC will close all campuses through the remainder of the week – with the exception of the Florida Public Safety Institute, which will remain open and operational to serve as a staging site for first responders.

Classes and normal campus operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, September 5, following the Labor Day holiday.

Campus Closures Due to Tropical Storm Idalia

Due to Tropical Storm Idalia, TCC’s Wakulla Center and Wakulla Environmental Institute will be closed tomorrow, August 29. TCC Main Campus, Center for Innovation, Gadsden Center, and Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education will be closed starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 through Wednesday, August 30. The Florida Public Safety Institute is currently open and operational in order to serve as a staging site for first responders.

Normal operations will are expected to resume Thursday, August 31. However, should any circumstances change, status updates will be sent out via TCC Alerts and posted to our website at www.tcc.fl.edu/alerts.

Tropical Storm Idalia Update

The National Weather Service reports Tropical Storm Idalia has picked up speed and is tracking north-east, though there remains uncertainty around the exact track, size and intensity of the storm. It is anticipated that this large storm will be a Category 3 by the time it makes landfall, most likely Tuesday night. Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect for Leon and Wakulla Counties.

We encourage you to get prepared now by filling your gas tank, keeping phones and other electronics charged, readying your go bag, and removing any yard or curbside debris.
